Steve Lawson

"As Sheriff, I am committed to working hard every day to make our schools, our churches and our community the safest place in Tennessee. Through the hard work of the men and women of the BCSO and in partnership with members of the community, we are doing just that. We are working each day to get better and to provide an even greater quality of service and protection to all people of Bradley County."

Chief Deputy
John Stone

Chief Deputy John Stone is a 25 year veteran of law enforcement, having started his career at the BCSO in 1997. Before serving as Chief Deputy, Stone was Captain of the Criminal Investigations Division. He has also worked as a Patrol Deputy and Detective, holding the ranks of Detective Sergeant, Lieutenant, and Patrol Captain. He has earned over 40 training certifications and is a graduate from the FBI National Academy, 257th Session. Prior to being named Chief Deputy, Stone also served on the SWAT Team for nearly 23 years and led the team as the SWAT Team Commander for 14 years.

Captain of Patrol Division
Jon Collins

Captain Jon Collins, a 25 year veteran in law enforcement, is over our Patrol Division. Through out his career he has worked for the BCSO and the Cleveland Police Department. He has previously served as a deputy, sergeant and lieutenant on patrol. Captain Collins has a degree in Criminal Justice and has received several training certifications in leadership and law enforcement, including training from the FBI Academy.

Captain of Criminal Investigations Division
David Shoemaker

Captain David Shoemaker is a 24-year veteran of law enforcement, having started his career at the BCSO in 2004. Before serving as Person Crimes Lieutenant of the Criminal Investigations Division, Shoemaker worked as a Patrol Deputy, Drug Unit Investigator, Property Crimes Detective, and Person Crimes Detective, holding the ranks of Detective Sergeant and Lieutenant. In addition, he holds a BA in Business Management from Liberty University. Before his career at BCSO, Shoemaker graduated from the 168th class of the Atlanta Police Academy and served with the Atlanta Police Department as a Patrol Officer from 1998-2004. During this time, he was also assigned to the Auto Theft Task Force.

Jail Administrator
Christi Walls

Jail Administrator Christi Walls is a 14 year veteran of Corrections. Before serving as Jail Administrator of Corrections Division, she worked as a Corrections Officer holding the ranks of Sergeant, Lieutenant, Senior Lieutenant and Workhouse Superintendent.  She is a 2016 graduate of Southeastern Leadership Academy and has many Tennessee Corrections Institute training certificates.  

Captain of Judicial Services Division   
Bill Dyer

Captain Bill Dyer is a veteran of law enforcement, corporate security, and corrections with over 35 years of service. Through out his career, he has gained extensive experience as a corrections and patrol supervisor holding the ranks of corporal, sergeant, lieutenant, senior lieutenant, captain, and chief deputy. He currently serves as the Captain of the Judicial Services Division, supervising  our court security and civil process divisions. He holds a B.S. degree in criminal justice and a masters degree in business and public administration. He is a graduate of the FBI academy.

Captain of Support Services Division
Gabe Thomas

Captain Gabe Thomas heads up our Support Services Division, which includes our evidence lab, hand gun carry classes, citizen's academy, litter program, neighborhood watch program and others. Captain Thomas is a 25 year veteran of the BCSO, having served in various leadership positions in the corrections and patrol divisions. He holds numerous certifications in leadership and law enforcement administration.

Director of Finance
Cassandra Stone

Director Cassandra Stone is over our Finance Department. She has over 19 years of service at the BCSO, with collegiate education and training in financial studies. Director Stone has been with the sheriff's office, handling finances, since the beginning of her career, gaining ample experience in this department.

Director of Administration
Lewis Jones

Director Lewis Jones is a 33 year veteran of law enforcement, having served at the Cleveland Police Department, BCSO and the State of Tennessee. He holds a degree in Criminal Justice, along with extensive training and certifications in law enforcement and investigation techniques.

Director of Communications and Technology
Dewayne Scoggins

Director Dewayne Scoggins is a 35-year veteran of Law Enforcement.  Prior to serving as Director of Communications and Technology where he was appointed in 2018, he spent 20 years as a Criminal Investigator primarily with the Person Crimes Division of the Bradley County Sheriff's Office.  He has held various leadership positions within the criminal investigations division and also worked for the Cleveland Police Department as a criminal investigator.  Director Scoggins also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management.  He is responsible for the Information Technology Unit, TIBRS, Grants, Internal Affairs, Office of Public Information, and is the agency Polygraph Examiner.
