Heads-Up Investigation Clears Theft of Church’s Sound Equipment
with Recovery and Two Arrests.

Heads-up work by detectives led to the arrest of two suspects in a burglary at Michigan Avenue Baptist Church.

The break-in and theft from the church’s annex building where youth worship services are held occurred sometime from April 8 and when it was discovered on April 11.

Early in the investigation detectives found a DVD/VCR unit and dehumidifier that was part of the stolen property in pawn shop records.  Several leads developed as a result of the discovery helped detectives identify the suspects and make a full recovery of sound equipment belonging to the church at the pawn shop and two other locations.

As a result of work by several detectives, Devan Blade Cartwright, 22, of Littlejohn Circle, and Kea Wooten, 18, of Summer Breeze Drive, were charged with Burglary and Theft over $1,000.

Bond for each was set at $2,000 and they are due back in General Sessions Court on April 29.
