Bradley County Sheriff’s Office Drug Enforcement Unit detectives quarantined a room of a South Lee Highway motel after discovering an active methamphetamine lab.

Two people who were in the room when detectives arrived with a search warrant Thursday were removed due to the immediate danger to health that is the result of mixing dangerous and potentially deadly chemicals commonly used to produce meth.

The detectives had to wait about 45 minutes before they could enter the room to collect all of the components of the lab. Items seized included cold packs, gasser tubing, lithium batteries, Drano, and shake bottles.

James Kinder, 40, and Kellie Ann Forgey, 36, were charged with manufacturing methamphetamine and were booked into the Bradley County jail. Kinder gave his address as the room of the Diplomat Motel where the lab was found. Forgey listed her residence as Victory Street.

Quarantine notices posted at the door do not allow entry until all contamination is removed to state specifications. It is a violation of state law to enter a location that has been quarantined.
