Securus Technologies has returned to Bradley County over $56,000 which represents a portion of the proceeds from operation of the phone system that is available to inmates in the Bradley County jail.

Sheriff Tim Gobble said the amount includes a $50,000 signing bonus for renewing Securus’s contract with the county plus a monthly commission that is based on use.  Gobble said the amount varies monthly and is one of several revenue sources that combine to bring in more than $4 million annually through the sheriff’s office.

Inmates use the phone system to make collect calls to family members and friends.  Securus provides the necessary equipment and collects the amount billed for a call from the recipient.  A portion of the revenue is then returned to the county.

Gobble said, “It’s important that we provide inmates a way to converse with family members while they’re incarcerated.  We are able to provide this service through Securus at no cost to our taxpayers and at the same time generate revenue for the county.”
