Citizens can submit reports of online child pornography and the exploitation of children to the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office on the agencies Internet Crimes Against Children and crime tip hotline.
Sheriff Tim Gobble said the BCSO was awarded ICAC funding by the Federal government, an initiative that gives local and state law enforcement agencies the tools to develop effective responses to online threats against children. Sheriff Gobble said the grant provided funding for a position allowing the BCSO to increase efforts to investigate, arrest, and prosecute predators that use the Internet to seek out children for illegal purposes. Citizens are encouraged to call 423-728-7336 to leave reports of the possession, distribution or receipt of child pornography and the online enticement of children for sexual purposes. ICAC is a network of more than 2,000 federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies engaged in proactive investigations, forensic investigations, and criminal prosecutions. It grew out of an identified need to combat the spread of child pornography and increased activity of predators seeking unsupervised contact with potential underage victims. Sheriff Gobble said he is committed to protecting children, “using every available resource to identify and prosecute predators in our area.” Sheriff Gobble and Chief Deputy Bill Dyer personally oversee and supervise this special unit of the sheriff’s office. Funding awarded to Bradley County was provided through the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act.
