DARE Graduation - Fifth grade classes at North Lee Elementary School graduated Monday from the DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) program. At the conclusion of the program each student prepared an essay on what they learned during the 10-week DARE curriculum. The best essay from each class was presented at the graduation and the author was given a DARE medallion. Pictured with North Lee School Resource Officer Sgt. Yvonne Johnson, DARE instructor Deputy Jamie Thurman, and Lt. W.G. Campbell are essay winners Ashley Hall, Josie Morrow, Morgan Watson and Hunter Smith. The Bradley County Sheriff's Office provides instruction for all fifth grade classes in the Bradley County School System. Lt. W.G. Campbell who supervises the School Resource Officer program and the Traffic Unit spoke to the students about the dangers of drinking and driving. He shared statistics which show since 1989 almost 300 people have died from injuries in traffic crashes in Bradley County and almost half involved the use of alcohol.
