Responding to a disturbance Thursday afternoon on Wyatt Long Road between the owner of a mobile home park and his tenants, Bradley County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Walter Eugene Bishop. Walter Eugene Bishop Tenants of the park were waiting in the road when patrol deputies arrived. They said Bishop had tried to hit them with a baseball bat. Upon contact at his residence Bishop tried to push the deputy away from the doorway and struck the side of the deputy’s head. Bishop, who is 62 years old, was taken into custody and charged with resisting arrest, aggravated assault on an officer, and three counts of aggravated assault. Sheriff Tim Gobble said he commends the deputy for the way that he responded to the situation. He not only protected citizens from harm but also has a duty to protect himself while taking a violent person into custody.
