Revenue the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office receives from daily operations was over $231,000 during November, the most recent period for which a report is available. The sheriff’s office has several sources of revenue, but receives the largest sums for holding state and federal inmates in the county jail. On an annual basis Sheriff Tim Gobble said they return over $4 million to the county. He said that reduces funding that is allocated to the sheriff’s office from other revenue categories including the property tax. Actual collections for the month of November were $231,632. State inmates generated $121,870 and federal inmates added $95,632. Sheriff Gobble said these numbers change month to month. In October, revenue climbed to $240,646 due to a $17,000 increase in state payments. The county receives smaller amounts from the inmate commissary, the inmate phone system, work release, and the sexual offender registry.
