Bradley County Sheriff’s detectives made two arrests this week after an investigation revealed property that was reported stolen recently was sold months ago. Megan N. Barkley, 22, and Christopher A. Baxter, 27, both of Eastview Avenue, were arrested Tuesday after the Grand Jury indicted both for Filing a False Report. The pair on April 16 reported several items missing in a burglary of an automobile. The investigation revealed several inconsistencies in their story of how the property was taken leading to a conclusion the burglary did not occur as they reported. Through investigation, Detective Joseph Lea developed leads that indicated these items were sold several months before the theft report was filed. Both suspects are free on $2,500 bonds pending a hearing in Criminal Court.
