Income was over $260,000 in April for state and federal inmates that are being incarcerated in the Bradley County jail. With up to 100 federal inmates in the jail at any one time, the county receives a reimbursement of $49.60 per inmate per day. In April, just over $136,000 was received from the federal government to offset operational costs. The state Correction Department reimburses at a lesser rate. For state inmates the county is paid $35 per day. Income for the month was $125,000. Total income for the month was $276,591.44. The county received a reimbursement of $8,112 from the company that operates the inmate phone system, and the commissary took in $4,232. Sheriff Tim Gobble said income is provided by other sources, reducing the amount funded by taxpayers.
