As a result of a joint effort by the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office and the Cleveland Police Department, a suspect was taken into custody following two armed robberies Friday night. Cleveland Police officers were sent to the Super 8 Motel at 163 Bernham Drive around 9:21 p.m. where the clerk on duty reported he had been robbed. He described the suspect as a white male with short red hair, approximately six-foot tall, wearing all black clothing with a gun in the waistband of his pants. Approximately six hours later a clerk at the Howard Johnson Motel on Georgetown Road reported an armed robbery. City and county officers saturated the area but were unsuccessful in locating the suspect. The clerk gave a similar description of the suspect and reported seeing him get into a silver or gray car. Later, Sgt. Clint Denny of the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office, while checking a parking lot behind the Crown Inn on South Lee Highway, located a vehicle that matched the description of the car that was seen leaving the Howard Johnson Motel.  Corey Horton The suspect, Corey Horton, 21, of Indianapolis, was sitting in the vehicle and was taken into custody without incident. Detective Duff Brumley of the Cleveland Police Department was called to the motels and obtained additional video evidence that positively identified the suspect. After questioning Horton gave a statement pertaining to his involvement in the two robberies Horton is charged with Aggravated Robbery and is currently being held in the Bradley County jail pending arraignment in General Sessions Court Monday morning.
