The Corrections Bureau is supervised by Director Gwen Beavers.

Eighty-six corrections officers provide around-the-clock staffing to ensure every inmate is treated fairly and humanely in a secure environment. Corrections officers receive 40 hours of initial training as required by the Tennessee Corrections Institute. The BCSO Corrections Academy training covers such areas as professional ethics, gang identification, civil liability, inmate transport, disturbance control, conversational Spanish and other related issues. The five-week program is designed around the direct supervision philosophy of behavior management.

Direct supervision requires a corrections officer to be stationed inside the pod, allowing the officer to observe inmate behavior and morale first hand and up close. Studies have shown this method to be beneficial in identifying potential trouble areas before they become a problem. Direct supervision was first used in federal penitentiaries and met with such success in reducing injury to both inmates and prison personnel that more and more municipal jails began adopting the method.

There is also a transport unit which operates within the Corrections Division. The transport unit carries federal, state and county inmates to and from court appearances, medical appointments and prison, as well as around the state and to other states for cases which are under the jurisdiction of other courts.

The BCSO food contractor, Aramark, operates within the complex in a modern, commercial-grade kitchen and provides all inmates three nutritious meals a day.
