Bradley County Sheriff’s deputies made two arrests Tuesday night after they were able to stop a vehicle that earlier fled from Cleveland police units on North Lee Highway. The blue Chevrolet Astro van’s speed was clocked on radar at 92 miles-per-hour in an area where the speed limit is only 45 mph. City officers followed the van onto Stuart Road. As they approached Old Tasso Road sheriff’s deputy Todd Olinger successfully deployed spike strips, a device that punctures the tires allowing air to escape in a manner that the driver is able to keep the vehicle under control. The van however continued on, turning onto Old Tasso Road and then 20th Street. At the entrance ramp the vehicle got onto APD 40 with several police units in pursuit.  Jimmy Wayne Allen That is where Deputy Doug Boucher was waiting. As the vehicle approached he was forced to take evasive action to avoid being struck by the van. The chase ended on APD 40 near the US 64 exit with the arrest of Jimmy Wayne Allen, 41, of Lee Street, who was identified as the driver of the van, and a passenger, Robin A. Lewis, 43, of Pleasant View Tennessee, his sister.  Robin A. Lewis Charges filed against the driver include felony evading arrest, resisting arrest, driving on a revoked license, no proof of insurance, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, fifth offense DUI, two counts of assault on an officer and two counts of aggravated assault. Lewis is charged with resisting stop, frisk and halt.
