Both suspects in a drive-by shooting last week on northeast 31st Street have now been arrested. 56 year-old James Clarence Maney surrendered today at the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office where warrants were on file charging him with Attempted First -Degree Murder and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. Detectives found eight bullet holes in the exterior of an elderly woman’s home. Their investigation discovered at least two rounds penetrated the wall and came to rest in a mattress where the woman was asleep. The woman said she heard a noise during the night but she wasn’t able to determine the source. She went back to bed and it wasn’t until morning that a relative found the damage to her home. Through investigation Maney was linked to a vehicle that was seen driving away shortly after the incident. Also accused is Scott E. Vineyard, 36, who was arrested Friday for Attempted First Degree Murder. Detectives from the sheriff’s office looked during the day for Vineyard but didn’t find him until that evening. He was taken into custody without incident at a traffic stop. No one was injured by the gunfire. Both suspects are being held in the Bradley County jail where Maney’s bond is set at $100,000.
