(A special thank you goes out to Mrs. Sue Denton who recently dropped the BCSO and Sheriff Tim Gobble a very nice note of encouragement. Mrs. Denton included the following poem in her letter and we would like to share it with you all.)
THE POLICE OFFICER by Hugh X. Lewis
A uniform, a badge, a gun, And have a halo on their hands ~ The wisdom of Solomon And they should always be well read
A doctor in an accident, A crusader against all booze, A lawyer in an argument, A minister when there’s bad news.
A meager livelihood they make For all they’re qualified to give. Why should they ever have to take A second job so they can live?
(Copyright by Hugh X. Lewis, a Baptist layman and poet laureate of Christian country music in Tennessee)
