The Bradley County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation of a shooting at 314 Peachtree Circle that left Richard Allen Dye Sr., 41, with a gunshot wound in the chest.

When deputies arrived at the residence Sunday night in response to a 9-1-1 call, they were told Dye had left in a white Mustang. The vehicle was found at his residence at 2859 Michigan Avenue Road and medical assistance was requested.

Based on investigation of the incident, it appears Gayla Moore had returned home to Peachtree Circle accompanied by an adult male when she discovered the Mustang was in her back yard. When Dye attempted to leave through a fence gate Moore sustained an injury and the male fired through the windshield, hitting Dye in the chest.

Dye drove himself home and was transported in an ambulance to Skyridge Medical Center. He was later transferred to Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga where he remains hospitalized today in undetermined condition.

The Criminal Investigations Division is continuing the investigation in conjunction with the District Attorney’s Office and no charges have been filed at this time.
