In an investigation overnight Bradley County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Timothy K. Sexton on three counts of attempted first-degree murder.

The investigation revealed Sexton had lived at 645 Old Chattanooga Pike #13 but was evicted on Wednesday by another person at that address. Witnesses said he returned around 11 p.m. with a handgun.

Witnesses said he made several threats to the two adults who were present, and struck Shelby Kelso in the head with the gun.  The investigation revealed he then pointed the gun toward Ms. Kelso and pulled the trigger but it misfired.  At that point she was able to get her cell phone and call 9-1-1.  Ms. Kelso, Chris Beavers and two children who were at the residence were able to leave and they met deputies at a fast food restaurant on A-P-D 40. The suspect left the residence but was arrested without incident at an apartment on Springplace Road. Sexton, who is 24, also gave an address of East 21st Street in Chattanooga.

He was booked into the Bradley County jail charged with three counts of attempted first degree murder.
