School bus-truck collide on N. Lee Hwy Print
Friday, 20 January 2012

Investigation into a collision involving a Bradley County school bus and a Nissan pickup truck earlier today is continuing.

Reported at 7:40 this morning, the crash resulted in minor injuries to two of the 31 students riding the bus to Walker Valley High School. They were treated at SkyRidge Medical Center. Those not going to the hospital were checked at the scene and boarded another bus that transported them on to school.

The investigation shows the bus was going north on North Lee Highway and collided with the truck, driven by Ken Hammonds of Englewood, who was coming south. Hammonds was treated in the SkyRidge emergency room before being transferred to Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga. The bus driver, April Lowe of Bradley County, did not go to the hospital after the accident.

The Bradley County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit is being assisted by the Tennessee Highway Patrol as the investigation continues.
